The most notable was the performance she gave as the wife of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything that brought her an Oscar for the first time. Jones' portrayal as Stephen Hawking's wife in the biopic, based on his life, was praised both by critics and viewers. Jones was later seen in Inferno a thriller starring Tom Hanks. Jones was awarded the title British Artist of Year 2016 by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles in recognition of her exceptional talent and contributions in film.
