Her conception took place on March 29, 1985, in Roswell located in the state of New Mexico. Gerina Michelle was her maiden name. Gerina Stevenson's parents were Mexican Alan Stevenson & Rita Stevenson. She is Mexican roots, yet is American by nationality. From a young age the desire for her to be engaged in sport was strong. Gerina was a golfer when she was just the age of fifteen. Gerina finished her high school education at Goddard High School. In high school she was the winner of in the New Mexico Golf State Tournament. Also, she played volleyball at the national level. 2003was the year she started studying at the University of Texas. In the final seasons of her professional career, she was the winner of every event where she played. During the undergraduate seasons, she won as the conference's best player of year as well as UTEP Female Athletic of the Year.
