April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th day of July. She started guitar and piano lessons at age seven. Her passion for songwriting was sparked. When she was 12 years old, April wrote her first tune Different. At the age of 14, April committed a large amount of time in writing lyrics and practising her musical skills. After that, she started taking trips to write with her father in NY as well as LA. April started to incorporate other relevant topics into the song, such as the Take my Hand song for some friends, such as peer-pressure disabilities and even teenage suicide. Lockhart has her own following and also works as a lifestyle blogger at the renowned Ilia Pure Beauty brand. Disability is an aspect of her personality, but it is not the whole image. Because of this, her Instagram profile doesn't shy away from the fact that she is disabled, but she doesn't focus on it either. What message is it sending? The message is that we are more than the physical person we are. Our identities are complicated and we contain many different factors. Lockhart with a short video message from Nashville's home, declares that I do not want this to determine me. I'm much far more than just my physical body. My daily life isn't directly affected by disability. I live my normal day-to-day life and discover my own solutions to problems. Since it's part of me I think it's worthy of discussion. Self-acceptance runs for life but Lockhart truly inspires me regarding this issue. She still admits to going through various phases in relation to her body. She felt unsure about certain clothes which exposed her arms. The fashionista wears what she loves and proudly posts pictures of herself in the outfits she wears on social media. Self-love, she says, is like a journey. "I don't think you will ever be in that place," she said. This is a process, and I'm sure that you never get there. It's essential to have those that know and understand you. They'll be able to remind you of the things you're worried about.
