While I had one baby with me, and other babies within the cradle would work 12 hour shifts grinding floors and cutting off wallpaper. Ha! It was beginning to make sense, but was still far from being finished. It would take lots of time and money as well as my favourite brands of furniture furnishings for this house. To stay in the realm of budgets, I took to by taking my sons to estate sales in search of diamonds. Our routine for the week was to walk from Thursday through Saturday through estate sales and garage sales buying a mixture of old and new pieces while I spent on weekdays painting and sanding the driveway. The furniture looked like this... and that's where I got my passion for restoring. Even after our house was furnished I couldn't quit! On the streets I set up a little space, and also sold objects. It was possible to expand the area because I had many more pieces than I needed. My house was transformed into a space in which I held open houses where up to 1,000 people could view the things on the first floor, and then purchase them. Growing Days is the result of all this. My business was booming, but my family was also growing. In some ways, I found the ideal way to balance being a mom and starting my new company. Growing Days was the obvious option. Nora, my 4th kid was born in 2013. The direction of my business was excellent, however I needed to rest for a while. I decided to stop building my old furniture for a while and be at home with the kids. This was precisely what I wanted. However, after just a couple of minutes the phone started ringing. A lot of people contacted me to ask for advice about home improvement or decorating. A majority of them walked into my house in my open houses for furniture. In the following time I started taking on clients at my pace. Before long I had several accounts and a home remodeling business. It would have probably amused me if you told me this would become the basis of the DIY Network tv series. In fact, I do amused when I think of it.
